The Charities are a soul and funk band hailing from Southern California, particularly the beach cities of Hermosa, Redondo, and Manhattan Beach. Formed by a group of lifelong friends, the band consists of six members: Brock Van Pelt (lead vocals), Alec Kersenboom (guitar), Joe Lopilato (keyboards), Matt Robinson (guitar), Derek Doszkocs (bass), and Hunter Pipp (drums).
Their music is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of Motown, 1970s soul, funk, jazz, disco, R&B, and jam-oriented rock, creating a nostalgic yet fresh sound.
